So, to start off this thing I have decided to write about my newly acquired copy of Killzone 3. I won't waste your time by making some stupidly long review; but instead, I shall just go over the basics and such.
Starting off... the game itself is a worthy addition to the Killzone universe. Not only does it have a gripping story, but it's got great multiplayer. I personally am a fan of the Engineer class. You can place defensive turrets and repair things... and you get giant machine guns... what isn't to love?
Back to the specifics of the story. It starts directly where Killzone 2 left off, with Sev all pissed off on the steps of Visari Palace. Not going to give away any more of why he's pissed off or anything. If you haven't played it, I'll let you find out for yourself. After that, the entire Helghast army basically goes OFF THE CHAIN. It's like the ISA just hit a massive hornet's nest with a stick. You're riding through the ruins of Pyhrrus City on... some kind of vehicle. It's like a mix between a jeep and an APC. You're getting chased by the ridiculously BADASS Helghast APCs. They have fucking saw blades on the front. Anyway, you eventually get knocked off of the road roll down a cliff. After that, you just fight through the city on foot.
All in all, that was a very fun series of levels. After that, you're in a jungle or something 6 months later. As far as what the jungle looks like? Well, think of Felucia from Star Wars. It's the fungus planet. This is a short level, but it's ridiculous fun. You start off with another guy, and you have to sneak past a bunch of Helghast to restart the uplink so that the ISA forces that abandoned you 6 months earlier can HOPEFULLY rescue you. After a while, they Helghast find out what you did, come to TRY to capture you. You just charge through them like a raging bull and are basically buttrape incarnate. You have to go back to your base camp to try and fend off incoming Helghast forces.... needless to say it fails. You're captured. Then rescued in some sort of arctic tundra. If I talk anymore about the arctic place, it'll basically be one big spoiler because that's where most of the story elements happen.
After all that's done, you go to a giant spaceport. There aren't many ISA forces left, because after 6 months of continuous guerrilla warfare against vastly superior technology and numbers... well.... you do the math. By time you're 75% done with the ground part, your force only consists of 60 guys. No more tanks either, so Sev(Your character) goes balls out on this one, and decides it's time to assault the space station. So you do. Eventually you get a space ship and blow up the main Helghast battleship.
That's where the story ends. As short as I made it sound, it's really not. It ate up about 12 hours of my life.
As far as multiplayer goes, it adds even more fun to the equation. The maps, the classes, the weapons. They're all fun as hell. On some maps there are even vehicles. (Two legged mechs with machine guns and rockets.)
The classes, I like. As I stated before... and also as I stated before; my favorite is the Engineer, and I already said why I like it. So onto the others.
Marksman: High-precision weapons. You can cloak and be basically invisible.
Tactician: Uses mainly assault rifles - good at short and medium ranges. Can use a recon ability which shows the location of enemy soldiers on your screen. He can also call in flying robots that shoot people.
Infiltrator: Basically a spy. He can disguise himself and usually uses SMGs and melee.
Field Medic: Self explanatory. Can revive teammates, and call a robot that has an area healing effect.
Anyway, that's all I've got to say for right now.
Later d00dz.
